Stability of control for the Preisach hysteresis model

چکیده
The motivation for this research arises from recent interest in actuators made from \smart mate-rials" such as shape memory alloys and piezoceram-ics. One common characteristic among these new materials is that they exhibit complex hysteresis non-linearities. The input-output nature of the Preisach model of hysteresis results in a simple model for which identiication strategies are known, and implementation is straightforward both in simulation and real-time control. This paper examines the passivity of the Preisach model, and the stability of velocity feedback control for hysteretic actuators.

Position Stability For Phase Control Of The Preisach Hysteresis Model
Many systems with hysteresis are adequately represented by the Preisach model. Hysteresis in these systems can be very effectively reduced using the “phaser”, an ideal frequency domain operator, in a feedback connection. The position stability of this type of control has not yet been established in spite of the experimental evidence that the resulting systems are stable. This paper shows the di...
متن کاملHysteresis Nonlinearity Identification Using New Preisach Model-Based Artificial Neural Network Approach
Preisach model is a well-known hysteresis identification method in which the hysteresis is modeled by linear combination of hysteresis operators. Although Preisach model describes the main features of system with hysteresis behavior, due to its rigorous numerical nature, it is not convenient to use in real-time control applications. Here a novel neural network approach based on the Preisach mod...

متن کاملLow-frequency hysteresis model for nonoriented Fe-Si sheet using Preisach theory
In this work, a low-frequency dynamic hysteresis model is proposed and applied to nonoriented Fe-Si steel. The model based on Preisach theory can be used when skin effect is negligible over the lamination thickness. In our model, the Preisach engine that usually takes the magnetic field as input variable must be inverted. Some B(H) symmetric loops are calculated and compared with measurements i...
متن کاملPassivity-based stability and control of hysteresis in smart actuators
The past decade has seen an increase in the use of smart materials in actuator design, notably for inclusion in active structures such as noise-reducing paneling or vibration-controlled buildings. Materials such as shape memory alloys (SMAs), piezoceramics, magnetostrictives and others all offer exciting new actuation possibilities. However, all of these materials present an interesting control...
